January 31st - Duluth, MN Armory

MC of the show - Lew Latto is still on the air in Duluth, MN.
When I contacted him he informed me that he was also the promoter of the show
and had already booked a "Summer Dance Party" with Buddy
and others to return that following Summer.

This is the show that Bob Dylan referred to when accepting his Grammy Award:
"And I just want to say that when I was sixteen or seventeen years old, I went
to see Buddy Holly play at Duluth National Guard Armory and I was three feet
away from him...and he LOOKED at me. And I just have some sort of feeling that
he was---I don't know how or why---but I know he was with us all the time we
were making this record in some kind of way."

There is now a group that has taken over the structure and
has long term plans to turn it into a Music & Arts Center

In January of 2001, photos finally surfaced from this show.
Sharon Johnson was in her mid-teens when she snapped these 8 photos:

In January of 2002, while I was doing a local radio show, Colleen Bowen called in
and stated that she had been at the '59 show & had taken photos.
2 of Ritchie she gave to her friend, and here are the other 5 that she has to share with us:

This photo was recently was added to the "Bob Dylan Museum" display.

Next night in Green Bay, WI...
