
Buddy began recording in 1949 at his home at 3315 36th Street in Lubbock. The first known recordings are of "My Two Timin' Woman", a Hank Snow song, Buddy with his acoustic at 13 years old.
In 1952, Bob Montgomery accompanied him on mandolin as they recorded "I'll Just Pretend" and "Take These Shackles From My Heart" at the same home. These were from a wire recorder & later transferred to acetate.
In 1953, the two recorded "Little Footprints In The Snow".
By late 1953, Jack Neal & Buddy were playing together at KDAV radio in Lubbock, their recordings of "I Saw The Moon Cry Last Night" and "I Heard The Lord Callin' For Me" were both Jack Neal songs and transferred to acetate in Nov '53. Jack sings & plays guitar, Buddy is on rhythm guitar.
By the next year, the Buddy Bob & Larry Trio was in full swing and the boys made their way to a small recording studio in Wichita Falls, TX.
