IVAN

Jerry "Ivan" Allison released 2 singles under this moniker.
The first "Real Wild Child / Oh You Beautiful Doll" was recorded February 19th, 1958 at Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, NM. The session included Buddy Holly (guitar), Bo Clarke (drums), Joe B Mauldin (bass), Norman Petty played wine glasses on "Oh You Beautiful Doll", and The Roses sang backups on both songs. It was released as Coral 62017 and JI did a few appearances for TV & radio as "Ivan". The August 3rd, 1958 issue of Cashbox pictured him on the cover proclaiming "one of the top performers of the year is currently on tour all across the United States and Europe. Watch for him in your local concerts".
The song "Real Wild Child" was doing well for writer & performer Johnny O'Keefe when Buddy & The Crickets toured Australia. Upon returning to the US, the group recorded the song "as a joke" during one of their sessions...JI did not want his name on the record thus using the "Ivan" name.

After having surprising success with the first release, "Ivan" waxed one more 45 at the Petty Studios. "Frankie Frankenstein / That'll Be Alright" featured JI, Sonny Curtis on guitar, Bo Clarke, Joe B Mauldin & The Roses. It was released as Coral 62081 in 1959.
As expected both 45s are rare & fairly expensive - if you can even find them!
