In the 1954-55 years, 5 sessions took place at the Nesman Recording Studios at 3108 York Avenue, Wichita Falls, TX. Buddy, Bob, Larry, Don & Sonny first recorded some country style songs "I Gambled My Heart", "Flower Of My Heart", "Soft Place In My Heart", "Door To My Heart", and "Gotta Get You Near Me Blues". Similar titles, and all sounded very similar.
June 7th, 1955, Buddy, Bob, JI, and Larry recorded "You & I Are Through" (possibly the below track), and "Down The Line" which was the first composition between the team of Norman Petty, Buddy & Bob Montgomery.

In July they returned to record "Baby Let's Play House" and another try at "Down The Line".
Their next return was for a Sonny Curtis session, his compositions of "I Gambled My Heart", "I'll Miss My Heart", "This Bottle" and the Don Guess song "Queen Of The Ballroom". The latter 2 remain unissued.
As the Buddy Bob & Larry trio were doing shows around the Lubbock area, Nashville talent agent Eddie Crandall was on the tour and liked what he heard. He requested demos to be sent, and the boys quickly got back into the studio on Dec.7 to record "Baby Won't You Come Out Tonight" (aka "Moonlight Baby"), ""Don't Come Back Knockin'", "I Guess I Was Just A Fool", and "Love Me". These were submitted on acetates to Decca, and impressed them enough to ask them to record in Nashville.
