Hi-Pockets Duncan
Born as William Duncan, June 8, 1914 in Haskell County, TX
"Hi-Pockets" Duncan left his radio announcing job at KSEL in 1953 to set up the first all-country station in Lubbock, TX. It was there he first noticed the Buddy
and Jack duo, later Buddy & Bob and gave them them their first radio program,
plus signing them to a contract in order to protect them.
"People would invite them to parties & then ask them to play. This way they got free entertainment from the boys, so I put them under contract". When Buddy signed his contract with Decca, Hi Pockets tore up the contract, as he did not want to stand in their way.
He later ran KRAN radio in Morton, TX which he sold in 1979. He passed away in December of 1981.
