The Winter Dance Party Musical Scholarships and Awards are as follows:


The Winter Dance Party - RITCHIE VALENS - Musical Awards
Donations to Pacoima Middle School, Pacoima, CA and
The Ritchie Valens Recreation Center help with their music programs. 
We also assist the Guitars Not Guns! program in Watsonville, CA.

 
The Winter Dance Party - JP (THE BIG BOPPER) RICHARDSON - Musical Awards

Donations to Winborn Elementary School,  St Bartholomew Music Ministry
and Calvin Nelms Charter School (all in Katy, TX) assist their music programs.

 
Elsewhere, Musical Scholarships are in place at the following High Schools.
To be eligible for such a scholarship, aspiring students should be graduating
to university
to major or minor in Music, preferably with the aim of seeking a career in music teaching

 
The Winter Dance Party - BUDDY HOLLY -  Musical Scholarship

This is at Lubbock High School, Lubbock, TX from where Buddy Holly graduated in 1955.

 
The Winter Dance Party - ROGER PETERSON - Musical Scholarship

Honoring the pilot of the airplane, this scholarship is at Storm Lake High School, Storm Lake, IA.

 
The Winter Dance Party - DARREL HEIN - Musical Scholarship

This scholarship is at Clear Lake High School, Clear Lake, IA. It honors a former manager
of the Surf Ballroom, Clear Lake where the 1959 Winter Dance Party gave it’s final performance.

 
The arduous route of the original Winter Dance Party Tour played a significant part
in what was to happen, so we decided to mark the significance of the States toured in 1959

 
The Winter Dance Party – IOWA STATEWIDE – Musical Scholarship

Set up with help from Iowa High School Music Association,
the eligibility is as in Minnesota and Wisconsin except that the scheme operates state-wide.

 
The Winter Dance Party – MINNESOTA STATEWIDE – Musical Scholarship

High School graduates from those cities visited by the 1959 Winter Dance Party,
i.e. Mankato, Montevideo, St Paul and Duluth, and who intend to major or minor
in Music at university are invited to apply for a musical scholarship.

 
The Winter Dance Party – WISCONSIN  STATEWIDE – Musical Scholarship

High School graduates from those cities visited by the 1959 Winter Dance Party,
i.e. Milwaukee, Kenosha, Eau Claire and Green Bay,
and who intend to major or minor in Music at university, are invited to apply for a musical scholarship.
